Sacramento Shag Carpets
If your memory of shag carpeting goes back to the 1970’s, The Brady Bunch or That 70’s Show, you are not alone. If you were a child growing up then, you likely remember how soft they felt, how comfortable it was to watch TV or play while lying on the shag carpet and how much texture it lent to the room! If you like what shag carpeting brings to an area, rejoice in the modern colors and designs that are now available to complement your décor.
Fast Forward to Now
Shag carpet is cool again! These are not merely long threaded carpets that fall flat when you turn your back. Kamran’s Oriental Rug Bazaar carries quality modern shag rugs. Realize that the term “shag rug” doesn’t refer to carpet of a certain decade, but to the length of the pile. Finely crafted shag rugs and carpets are made in the same way that other rugs and carpets are made. The only difference with a shag carpet is the large amount of pile left to enjoy. In some cases, the knotted loops are not even cut and trimmed, but left untouched. Either way, the result is a thick, soft carpet to walk on or enjoy, adding comfort to a richly appointed modern home or office. Designs, sizes and styles are available in a wide range of choices, with fabrics including the traditional wool, angora, silk, synthetics and even leather! Visit Kamran’s Oriental Rug Bazaar to see the beautifully modern shag carpets now available.
Shag Carpet Care
The length of the pile does mean that powerful vacuum cleaners should be used on shag carpets. Canister vacuums or upholstery attachments on your upright are necessary to avoid damaging the carpet strands. Despite the extra care necessary for a shag rug, for many of our Sacramento clients, the deep nature of shag flooring is the only choice for certain applications.
